This year we decided to do Christmas minis with a new photographer. I had actually taken a workout class she had run a couple of years ago. I was a little nervous about trying someone new, but from the work I saw of hers, she does great job. The big plus is she was doing the photo session inside. The weather in November, into December in Cincinnati, is always hit or miss. Plus with our track record, it always rains when we schedule pictures.
Charlie with Chevron and Lace Photography did a wonderful job getting our kids to smile. These sessions can be very hit or miss. They are a condensed time of only 15 minutes, moving very quickly. You are trying to get the most pictures in the short window provided. Also, I am not sure where Little Miss Hadleys chins came from, but it is the cutest thing.
When we got our pictures back I was in shock! They turned out even better than I had imagined. The kids were smiling in almost every picture, it was a miracle. Don’t get me wrong there was definitely some bribery and promise of a cookie at the end.
Right before our time was up, I asked her to get a few quick shots of CJ and I. These days it’s so hard to get a picture just the two of us unless someone else is taking the picture. It’s so easy to focus all our time and energy on the kids and forget about ourselves. I am so glad I spoke up to get these wonderful pictures of just the two of us!
Getting professional pictures taken isn’t the cheapest thing to do. We only get them done one or two times a year depending on what is going on. I never regret getting them done though. They are creating memories in time of this season of life we are in. One day we won’t remember not sleeping, teething crying babies, and just trying to survive the day. Looking back on this we will smile and reminisce.
Get the professional pictures taken. If it’s too expensive have a friend, family member, or a complete stranger take the picture. Just be in them, don’t worry about how you look. Your kids just want their mom or dad in the mix making memories with them!
