Taking Myself Out On A Date

August 26, 2018

Happy Sunday Friends!!

As women, stay at home moms, wives, daughters, friends, etc. it’s hard to make time for ourselves. We are so busy trying to take care of everyone else, we forget to ask, ‘What about me?’ I am guilty of this myself, and learned it the hard way a couple months ago.

My goal every Sunday is to share a little bit of how I show myself self care. In no way am I an expert, but I’m just trying to practice this important advice. I believe self care can be anything from girls/guys nights, face masks, relaxing bath, reading a chapter in a book, having 10 minutes to yourself with no interruptions. It is anything you need to fill your cup up, so you can take care of the ones around you.

A couple weeks ago the Rachel Hollis, “Made for More,” movie was in theatre for only 2 days. I unfortunately missed the first date, but was able to make the second one. When I decided I want to go my first thought was, ‘who was I going to invite to go with me?’ Then I started to spiral down and got very stressed out. Anyone else get like this?

At that moment I decided, “I’m going by myself.” I had never intentionally done something like this before. It was nerve racking and exciting at the same time. I had only ever been to the movies by myself once before, and it wasn’t long ago.

I decided if I was going to go to the movies, that I might as well make it a true date night!

I got dressed up in my new romper from Old Navy and put makeup on.

I wanted to go to some fancy restaurant or a local brewery for dinner. Mom life happened hardcore that day as I was running behind, so that wasn’t possible. I almost talked myself out of going, but I’m so glad I went. I ended up at a Mexican restaurant, which is my favorite. Ordered myself a margarita and fajitas!

I ended up getting to the theatre at the perfect time, I found a seat almost directly in the middle of the theatre.

The movie was absolutely AMAZING! I love the Rachel Hollis book, Girl Wash Your Face, and believe every women should read it. It is empowering and makes you believe in yourself. Do yourself a favor and watch this video.

Lately I have fallen in love with self help/development books and podcasts. I will be doing a separate post on all that I have been reading and listening to. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Now, go out and do something for yourself this week! Let me know what you do!!

Sounds like you had an awesome day! I love that you got dressed up and had a night out with yourself.
I don’t know why people don’t so this more often because it sounds great haha.
I may even give it a go myself soon. It’s always good to have a bit of you time.

    Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Sounds like fun! I have an annual trip to the Mall of America and IKEA with one of my besties coming up. We barely even shop, but I’m so excited for the time!
