Hi Friends! Happy Wednesday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was gorgeous weather in Cincinnati!
Mine was pretty good, once I let go of expectations of my first Mother’s Day.
Last mother’s day I was 21 weeks pregnant, and halfway to meeting our little big man. CJ had surprised me with breakfast just the two of us at Taste of Belgium at The Banks. Afterward, we went down to Smale Park by the river and swang on the swings. It was a perfect little morning just the two of us!
This year I was so excited to finally be a mom on Mother’s Day. It was something I had wanted for as long as I can remember. I tried to appreciate it more this year since we finally had Parker. Before I was pregnant, I remember what it was like trying and watching other people celebrate.
We decided to go back to Taste of Belgium and make it our little family tradition to celebrate. Saturday was such a hot day in Cincinnati. We decided to sit outside, and it was directly in the sun. Of course, I had forgotten Parker’s hat, but I did remember sunscreen! You win some, you lose some.
Since it was Mother’s Day I decided to treat myself to a morning cocktail. I tried the ‘vacay’ mimosa for the first time and it was delicious. For breakfast, I got the ‘Chicken, Biscuit & Gravy’ which I highly recommend. They are known for their ‘Chicken and Waffles,’ but I have had that countless times so it was nice to switch it up!
Of course, since it was Mother’s Day and I am always taking pictures; here are some of my little big man and me! He is the one who made me a mama and I am so beyond blessed because of it!
Of course, afterward we headed down to the river and had a family swing. Parker ended up falling asleep on me while we swang and it was the best! He never does it anymore, so I can try and treasure every moment he does now!
After breakfast, we headed home to work on our backyard. This summer we are doing a whole remodel which I am super excited for! More coming on this! We had a huge pile of sticks, branches, stumps, and whatever else just in a pile for as long as I can remember. My goal was to finally burn it and I accomplished it!
I had a fire going from 12:30 to about 6:00 on one of the hottest days! I’m sure my neighbors loved me! Ha.
Of course, after I got a celebratory beer!
On Mother’s Day, we went out to lunch with my husband’s family to Red Robin! Everybody went and it was such a fun lunch! Of course, I only got pictures of the kids, which is really hard to get them to all look the same direction.
Overall a great first Mother’s Day!!
